Endlich enthüllt: Wie Homer Simpson Freimaurer wurde

Freimaurerei war immer schon Gegenstand der jeweiligen „Populär-Kultur“. Zwei jüngere Beispiele: Die legendäre Spongebob Schwammkopf Folge, in der Spongebob auf das Geheimnis der „Kopffüßler-Loge“ stößt. Noch deutlich bekannter: Die Simpsons-Folge in der Homer Simpsons den „Stonecutters“ beitritt. Höhepunkt ist die Szene, in der Homers Aufnahme gefeiert wird und mit dem Stonecutters-Song auch noch beliebte Verschwörungstheorien aufs Korn genommen werden.

In beiden Fällen handelt es sich um ziemlich komische Überzeichnungen der Freimaurerei, ihrer Bräuche und Rituale. Selbst unter Freimaurern wird immer wieder gerätselt, wie genau es die Bruderschaft geschafft hat, Teil dieser Serien zu werden.

Zumindest im Fall der Simpsons-Folge können wir nun endlich etwas Licht ins Dunkle bringen – dank Rolf Keil. Rolf ist engagiertes Mitglied einer Frankfurter Loge. U. a. ist er einer der Organisatoren des jährlichen „Burns Suppers“ für einen guten Zweck und zu Ehren des Freimaurers, Patrioten und schottischen Nationaldichters Robert Burns.

Bei Facebook ist Rolf Mitglied einer Gruppe mit überwiegend US-amerkanischen Brüdern und Angehörigen der Freimaurer nahen Vereinigung „Eastern Star“. In dieser Gruppe berichtete Rolf, dass er bei Gästeabenden auch schon mal die Simpsons-Freimaurer-Folge zeigt. Anschließend bekam er diese private Nachricht, die ein paar Hintergründe beleuchtet:

„Der Cousin meines Mannes arbeitete an den Simpsons, als diese noch von „FilmRoman Studios“ produziert wurden. Wir bekamen die Gelegenheit, die Steinmetz-Folge „Der Auserwählte“ noch im Entwicklungs-Stadium zu sehen. Die Autoren waren anwesend und machten sich Notizen, an welchen Stellen wir lachten, und stellten uns Fragen. Ich glaube, sie wollten sichergehen, dass sich ein echter Freimaurer dadurch nicht vor den Kopf gestoßen fühlt, denn mein Mann war einer der ehemaligen Logen-Meister der „L.A.-Loge Nr. 42″. Wir hatten beim Besuch viel Spaß. Heutzutage wird die Folge in fast allen Logen, die wir besuchen, gezeigt.“
